Our center is the "good news" about Jesus!
The good news (or "gospel") is that Jesus has obeyed in our place, died for our sins, and risen from the dead! This is our center, the matter of “first importance” for us (1 Cor 15.3).
We never move on from this good news either, since it is "not only the ABC’s of salvation, but the A to Z of the Christian life." (Tim Keller)
This good news moves us dynamically...
> upward for worship:
In this good news, God opens our eyes to his glory (2 Cor 4:6), making all of life an opportunity to see and savor the glory of God in Christ.
> inward for community:
Through this good news, God joins us into a new community – the church. Moving "inward" in this way means growing and deepening in how we follow Jesus together (Eph 4.15-16).
> outward for mission:
Jesus has also called us to "go" to others with this good news (Matt 28.18-20), so we want to declare and demonstrate this great love of God in sending his Son. We also desire to see more gospel-centered churches planted in San Diego, and beyond!
